Starting a karate school was a goal of mine as soon as I started taking classes in 1993. Like a lot of goals I had, I kept pushing it back saying I'll open a school next year. I'll open it soon. It wasn't until 2007 at the age of 30 that I said to myself that it's now or never. My mom was dying of Lung Cancer and we had a talk one day about what she always wanted to do. Things that she wanted to do if she had more time. My mom passed away at 56 years old.
Her passing was a realization that life is short and life is precious.
I opened GOALS Martial Arts ten months after my mom passed. When designing a logo I wanted to highlight my mom. My inspiration. The colors of my logo are purple and gray. Purple is my mom's favorite color (I never knew) and gray is the color that represents Lung Cancer. Every time I see my logo I smile because I think of my mom.
