With over 32 years of experience, I founded GOALS Martial Arts in 2008 with a mission to help all youth—especially elementary and middle school students—develop positive habits that can shape their futures. While many martial arts instructors go by titles like Sensei, I prefer the more approachable "Mr. Bob," reflecting my commitment to teaching not just martial arts, but lifelong skills.
Growing up, I watched my mom pour her passion into making custom chocolates for friends and family, dreaming of turning it into a full-time business. In 2006, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and sadly passed away in 2007. Before she left, she shared her dreams and her favorite color—purple—with me. Inspired by her, I incorporated purple and silver/gray (for lung cancer awareness) into the GOALS Martial Arts logo as a tribute to her strength and legacy.
My book, Bullying Doesn’t Discriminate, is rooted in my own childhood experiences and the stories of the children I’ve mentored over the years.
In honor of my late son, Emmett, who passed away at just six months old, my wife, Tara, and I established a nonprofit scholarship fund to help families afford karate lessons.
Everything I do is driven by the legacies of my loved ones, with the hope of inspiring and uplifting our community—honoring them while making a lasting impact on others.
