With over 32 years of martial arts experience, I founded GOALS Martial Arts in 2008 with one clear purpose: to empower young people—especially elementary and middle school students—with the tools to build strong habits, resilient character, and lifelong success.
At GOALS, we don’t just teach kicks and punches. We teach focus, discipline, kindness, and confidence. While many instructors go by “Sensei,” I go by “Mr. Bob.” It’s a simple title that reflects my approachable, student-first philosophy and my belief that every child deserves a mentor who meets them where they are.
GOALS Martial Arts is also a tribute to the people who shaped my life. My mother, who passed away from lung cancer in 2007, was a passionate chocolatier who always dreamed big. Her favorite color was purple—a color that, along with silver/gray (the color of lung cancer awareness), now proudly represents our school. Her legacy lives in every class we teach.
I’ve also written Bullying Doesn’t Discriminate, a book inspired by my own childhood struggles and the stories of the incredible students I’ve had the honor of mentoring. And in memory of my son Emmett, who passed away at six months old, my wife Tara and I created a scholarship fund to help families access martial arts training regardless of financial hardship.
Everything we do at GOALS is guided by love, legacy, and the desire to uplift our community—one child at a time.
